Florida Panthers vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

Quick read:

Florida just took a 5-3 loss to Buffalo, a game where their defense looked less like a wall and more like a suggestion. Meanwhile, Columbus is sitting at 2-2, a record that suggests they haven't committed any mortal sins yet. The market is still pricing Florida as the favorite because the name recognition is loud, but the tape doesn't lie: you don't ride a horse that just ate a shoe. The Blue Jackets ML is the side that makes sense when the alternative is a team that just got embarrassed in front of a national audience.

The injury report is thin, but that's not where the real damage is. Florida's goaltending situation is a mess if Markstrom leaves early again, turning their net into a revolving door for opposition shots. Columbus, by contrast, is playing with the quiet confidence of a team that knows exactly how bad its opponent's night was. You don't need a statistical miracle; you just need the other team to keep doing what they did on Monday, which is putting pucks in the back of the net for anyone who asks.

The risk here is that Florida's stars decide to channel their anger into a late-game shootout, and the price on Columbus might look a little too sweet if the market starts catching on. But right now, the value is in the underdog, not the team that just let Buffalo score five goals. Take the Jackets, lock it in, and let the Panthers figure out their identity crisis somewhere else.
