EPLPrediction: Milwaukee Brewers VS Pittsburgh Pirates 2025-05-22
The Milwaukee Brewers, with their mediocre 24-26 record, are set to take on the struggling Pittsburgh Pirates, who are a dismal 17-33. Because, you know, someone has to win. The Brewers have a 68% win rate when they're the moneyline favorite, which is nice, but they've been having some issues with home runs (41) and slugging percentage (.349), ranking fifth-worst and third-lowest in MLB, respectively. Yikes.
The Pirates, on the other hand, have been underdogs in 34 games and have managed to win 12 of them (35.3%). Not bad, I guess. They also have a combined ERA of 3.98, which is...fine. Mike Burrows is making his 2025 debut for the Pirates, so we'll see how that goes.
As for key players, the Brewers have Brice Turang (.288, 4 HR, 20 RBI), William Contreras (.255, .373 OBP, .366 SLG), and Rhys Hoskins (.300, 7 HR, 27 RBI). The Pirates have O'Neill Cruz (8 HR), Andrew McCutchen (.243, 7 2B, 3 HR, 20 BB), and Bryan Reynolds (24 RBI).

My best bet? I'd take the Brewers on the moneyline at 1.83. They're the better team, and while they have their issues, they should be able to take care of the Pirates. Plus, the Pirates are starting a rookie pitcher, which is always a bit of a wild card. So, Brewers to win it, but don't expect a blowout or anything.
