Prediction: Pierre-Hugues Herbert VS Joao Fonseca 2025-05-29

The French Open is heating up, and we've got a mouth-watering matchup between the rising star Joao Fonseca and the wildcard Pierre-Hugues Herbert. Fonseca, the 18-year-old Brazilian sensation, is fresh off a dominating win over Hubert Hurkacz, taking down the 30th seed in three sets. Herbert, on the other hand, is looking to pull off a massive upset as a wildcard entry.

The odds are heavily in Fonseca's favor, with BetRivers offering 1.05 for a Fonseca win and 11.5 for a Herbert victory. The spread is also tilted towards Fonseca, with BetMGM offering -7.5 for Fonseca at 1.65 and +7.5 for Herbert at 2.05.

Given Fonseca's impressive form and Herbert's relatively low ranking (147th in the world), it's hard to see the Frenchman pulling off an upset. Fonseca's win over Hurkacz was a statement victory, and he's looking like a serious contender in this tournament.

My best bet for this matchup is Fonseca to win with a spread of -7.5 at 1.65 (BetMGM). Fonseca's got the momentum, the skill, and the confidence to take down Herbert with ease. The spread is a bit of a cushion, but I'm confident that Fonseca will cover it and make it a comfortable win.

So, if you're looking to make some money on this matchup, put your bets on Fonseca to win big. And if you're feeling fancy, take the over 30.5 at 1.87 (BetMGM) – Fonseca's been playing some aggressive tennis, and I think this one could go over the total.
